KWÊ – the unmistakable call of the Grey go-away bird – is a bespoke South African clothing brand featuring bold yet intricate designs of iconic African landscapes, wildlife, birdlife, and flora. Our hand-drawn artworks evoke a pre-digital era nostalgia that connects the wearer to the raw spirit of Africa. 

We favour hand-drawn designs with little-to-no writing and our deliberately minimalist branding enables the artwork to have it’s full effect.

Our T-shirts are locally manufactured and are made from 100% combed cotton material, which makes them luxuriously soft.  We use traditional screen-printing with water based inks which are durable and eco-friendly. 

KWÊ supports the protection of artisanal skills and local manufacture, promoting the growth of the local economy in a world where these skills are becoming increasingly rare, and where mass production and imports threaten local livelihoods. 

Our tried and tested designs have become very popular at local markets, where we have traded under the name “Greyloerie Art T-shirts” over the last few years. This ground-up process has given us invaluable, direct-to-customer experience. We are excited to take this experience to the next level. As part of this move, we are re-branding to “KWÊ” – from the heart of Africa.
